Zambo City couple yields P1.8-M shabu

A couple tagged as “big-time drug dealers” has yielded some PHP1.8 million worth of shabu in an anti-illegal drug operation in this southern port city, a top police official said Monday.

Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) director, said couple Abdulasis Lacastesantos, 56, and his wife, Hadja Laila, 55, were arrested by members of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) in a buy-bust operation around 8:49 p.m. Saturday in Barangay Sta. Catalina here.

Aside from the PHP1.8 million worth of suspected shabu, Ylagan said the couple also yielded the marked money and other pieces of evidence.

Ylagan said the suspects, who are detained at the ZCPO Station 11, will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The PRO-9 director noted that Saturday’s arrest was the third biggest drug haul so far this year in this city.

The first was on January 21 when an alleged big-time drug pusher yielded some PHP1.4 million worth of illegal drugs in an anti-drug operation at a shopping mall in Barangay Tetuan here.

The second was on January 24 that saw the arrest of three alleged big-time drug suspects and the confiscation of some PHP1.8 million in Barangay Talon-Talon here. (PNA)
