5 nabbed as anti-drug ops

Five suspects were arrested in anti-drug operations in this city and in nearby Zamboanga Sibugay province, the police reported Wednesday.
In a statement, Capt. Edwin Duco, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) information officer, said the anti-drugs campaign is in line with the directive of Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Gen. Debold Sinas.
Duco identified the suspects as Elmer Aniñon, 42, a drug watch-listed personality; Annie Aniñon, 24; Ahmad Asiri, 20; Mark Silao, 38; and, Jonald Milmao, 43.
Duco said the two Aniñons were arrested in a buy-bust around 10:10 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay Camino Nuevo.
Seized from them were some 2.9 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated worth of PHP20,000, and PHP200 marked money, he added.
He said Asiri, a newly-identified drug personality, was arrested with some PHP6,000 worth of suspected shabu and PHP200 marked money in a buy-bust around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in Purok 1, Barangay Mampang.
Meanwhile, Silao and Milmao were arrested in a buy-bust around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday in Purok San Francisco, Barangay Pangi, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
Recovered from the two were some PHP1,500 worth of suspected shabu, a cellular phone, a motorcycle, and PHP500 marked money. Duco said the suspects were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them.
